About PDEA

Pune District Education Association, Pune

The Pune District Education Association (PDEA) is a beacon of hope for the underserved rural families of Pune District, dedicated to empowering them through education and shaping a brighter future for the next generation. Founded on September 7, 1941, by the visionary Shri. Baburaoji Gholap, PDEA has been guided by the noble principle of "Bahujan Hitay Bahujan Sukhay," which translates to "Welfare and Happiness for the masses."

In its formative years, PDEA received invaluable support from prominent individuals like Mr. Annasaheb Awate, Mr. Shankarrao Ursal, Mr. Mamasaheb Mohol, and Mr. Mamasaheb Pimple, whose contributions paved the way for the association's growth and expansion.

Today, PDEA is led by Hon. Shri. Ajit Pawar, the Guardian Minister of Pune and Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, who also oversees the state's Finance, Planning, and Energy portfolios. As the nephew of Hon. Shri. Sharad Pawar, the Union Agriculture Minister, Shri. Ajit Pawar brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table.
