Welcome to Department of Botany
History:
Department is established in the academic year 2008-2009. The B.Sc. Botany special program started in 2008. The department was headed by Principal Dr. Balkrishna N. Zaware up to 2016. He was succeeded by Dr. Pravin B. Cholke. Prof. Shahaji D. Shinde is the head of the department from 1st September 2018. All the faculties from the department play a vital role in the process of assessment and accreditation of college.
Aim:
Aim of the Botany Department is to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of plant sciences and foster innovation in botanical research, conservation, and sustainable development.
Vision:
Vision of the Botany Department is to be a centre of excellence in botanical sciences, nurturing environmentally responsible citizens and innovative researchers who contribute to the sustainable management of plant resources.
Mission:
- To provide high-quality education in plant biology, ecology, and biotechnology.
- To promote scientific research in plant sciences for addressing global challenges like climate change, food security, and biodiversity loss.
- To inspire students to pursue academic, industrial, and environmental careers rooted in plant science.
- To engage in community outreach and environmental awareness through extension activities.
