The vision of Pune District Education Association (PDEA), since its foundation (1941), has been Welfare of Everyone and Happiness of All. Accordingly Anantrao Pawar College,has been situated in the hilly, remote, rural part in the Eastern region of Pune district. The mission of the college, since its establishment in 2008, centers round 'Social Uplift through Higher Education (HE)'.
By now, this HEI hasthe developed into multi faculty U.G. P.G.and Research Centre. It has modern infrastructure with the latest amenities. Though it imparts knowledge in the conventional stream, the qualified and efficient faculty has also acquired ICT equipped teaching learning capacity. The Department of Botany has done extensive research into the rich Biodiversity in Mulshi tehsil jurisdiction. Dr. Rani B. Bhagat has also published a book titled "Floristic Diversity of Mulshi Northern western Ghats" based on her intensive field work in its Biodiversity. The college has involved student participation in market survey for developing Eco-tourism in the tehsil,assuring local self-employment and capitalizing on the fieldwork and research done by our students and faculty. Moreover, we have already introduced and effectively conducted Certificate and Diplomacourses in Journalism and Mass Communication as well as Multimedia and Animation. In the ongoing academic year, we have also managed to plan and design some more urgently required vocational courses relevant to the background as well as current social and professional needs of the parent community. Diploma courses of one year duration such as Diploma in Organic Farming, Diploma in Fruit and Vegetable Processing have been designed after collecting inputs from field experts and industry. In order to motivate the students towards self-employment with professional know-how, Diploma in Office Administration and Secretarial Practice and Diploma in Financial Technology have also be designed.
The students with Extra Mural potential and their anxious parents have not been left out either. Diploma courses in Mass Communication and Multimedia have also been devised. Proposals of these courses have been submitted to NSQF/UGC. This take off from the original conventional stream toward the new skill based, job oriented and professional courses with inherent scope for self-employment is a socially conscious proactive step in order to enable the fulfilment of the fast changing needs of the industry and the society. The management of PDEA supports the administration of the college and the IQAC in this venture,in order to bridge the gap between HE and Industry.
